The Pots. Score seeks movie

Another story, I guess, of modern love over dating apps.  This time, a sprightly score strives to secure a monied movie.  Let's see the outcome.  A mix of prog rock, electronics, orchestral and one poppy plaything.  And not a word of politics!

1.       Returns (Establishment) (7:46)

2.       Flutter (Setting) (9:42)

3.       Chase (Action) (3:18)

4.       Dove story (Relation) (4:40)

5.       Resolve (Denouement) (7:57)

6.       Party (Relief) (3:45)

Total time 37:04

Album notes

1. Returns.  Thus the fable opens

2. Flutter.  Heart or other, any story requires a setting

3. Chase.  What better action than a chase

4. Dove story.  The relationship that every movie demands

5. Resolve.  Denouement or mystery, such is life

6. Party.  Whatever, it's over so let's party

The Pots. sky vs weather

Despair at the state of climate and politics and the rest.  From lyrics written early one morning navigating Drake's Passage with about 125 hardy souls.

2. Unrelenting (5:47)

3. The talking cure (7:22)

4. Mars (5:52)

5. Commentz feat. ChatGPT (8:49)

Album notes

1. COP27 now  - Everyone has their reasons, their evidence.  COP27 seeks a remedy.  Many others seek interim satisfactions with ignorant justifications.  And in the meantime, Pelin is resigned to a life without children.

2. Unrelenting  - There exist many bends on the way to politics but the hockey stick is the just the biggest and the scariest.

3. The talking cure - It takes all types and they mingle in public spaces, not least cruises.  Not easy, but the ability to converse, to share, to communicate is essential if inadequate.

4. Mars - Mars once had water, they say.  How will our home, Earth, fare in a few hundred years?

5. Commentz feat. ChatGPT - Well, AI needed our help, but it got it roughly right.  Maybe it can do all this better than us in the end.

6. Crucifixus a 8 - Antonio Lotti (1667-1740) laments the death of Jesus through an SSAATTBB choir as we mourn for the future of our planet .

Lyrics

This album was made with Public Domain and Choral Public Domain Library(CPDL)  input.  Thanks to all providers.  To NASA for the cover pic AS11-44-6643 - Apollo 11 View of Moon limb and Lunar Module during ascent, Mare Smythii, Earth on horizon - NARA - 16687416 of 21 July 1969 (public domain).  And to James Gibb for edit and midi of Lotti Crucifixus a 8 released under the CPDL license.

sky vs weather's  release date (31 Mar) celebrates the date of birth of early classical composer  Joseph Haydn (1732) in Rohrau, Austria, and mathematician, scientist and philosopher Rene Descartes (1596) in Touraine, France.  Also on this date, Jimi Hendrix first burnt his guitar in the Finsbury Park Astoria theater in London (1967) and the Eiffel Tower was inaugurated (1889) in Paris.

3. Harrington Miller (7:12)
4. Gillard Einstein (6:56)
5. Sagan (8:12)

Lyrics

Thanks to NASA for the cover pic The day the Earth smiled, photographed by the Cassini spacecraft from Saturn 19 July 2019.  It's not strictly Sagan's Pale blue dot from Voyager dated 14 Feb 1990 but related and respectful and similarly awe-inspiring.  Quotes are widely distributed on the Net other than that of Spike Wilner.  Thanks to Spike for approval to use his quote from Smalls newsletter of 13 Dec 2016.  (Ya gotta love Smalls!)

Mushroom meditations' release date (15 Jan) celebrates two favourite institutions.  On this date, the British Museum opened to the public (1759) and Wikipedia went online (2001).

3. DiscoTex (7:34)

4. Hope%less (5:27)

Album notes

1. Adult in the room  - A dedication to Greta Thunberg and the youth climate movement expressed with anger at government and regret from another generation.  A memorial to a failure beyond all imagination.

2. Wisdom of Gramsci  - The wise words of Gramsci on maintenance of hope: pessimism of intellect, optimism of will.  The alternative is despair.  But then Gramsci died after a long prison term imposed under Mussolini.

3. DiscoTex - Some four-to-the-floor EDM cos you know we all love it!  And there's hope in the social.

4. Hope%less - What of our political class?  Bought by wealth and deniers and impervious to evidence that doesn't suit, and not much does.  We voted for this?

5. Pergola - A floating electronica instrumental with metallic bursting interludes, like that hang outside that bar that memorable night.

6. Ah! PBO - Finding hope in the menial and repetitive.  What is it?  "Ah! PBO".

7. Ma fin est mon commencement - A crab canon over a palindrome from Guillaume de Machaut (c.1300-1377) with a post-modernist overlay.  Like bickering over climate, forever back and forth.

Lyrics

Hope's release date (17 Sep) celebrates the date of commencement of the Occupy Wall Street movement in Zucotti Park NYC (2011) and the deaths of Hildegard von Bingen (1179) and Bernie McGann (2013).

Album notes

1. Double down - Rap/spoken word on contemporary Australia politics, angry with a government that serves its masters and hides it from view
2. My indulgence - Politics and the personal indulgences of those who aren't active on climate, etc, due to despair or other
3. Slide into shadows - On the secret trials currently in progress in Canberra (Bernard Collaery, Witness J, etc, and Julian Assange) and the public's uncaring, unknowing, uninterested responses
4. Power - About the dangers of power, after Trump's tear-gassed march for his Bible photo op
5. Furlers - Rock instrumental
6. A new space time - About webinars as frequent companions during Covid-19 shutdowns
7. Masses - Symphonic composition with leads from oboe > horn > bassoon > oboe
8. It's my life - A rocky tongue-in-cheek plea by the common man for his independence with some mocking of cosmopolitans. In the end, I warmed to him even if I don't fully agree.

Musically, listen for floating electronics over solid grooves, often comprising polyrhythms and odd times and instruments coming into and out of synch.

Lyrics

Pumpkin discomfort's release date (3 Oct) celebrates a family birthday.

7. Meditation - a digital rendering of Jesu dulcis memoria attributed to Tomás Luis de Victoria (1.06)
